Oktoberfest in Wales

ins Auge zu fassen.

Termin wäre Samstag den 04.10.2014.
Somit könnte die Anreise und der Aufbau am Freitag den 03.10.2014
und die Heimreise am Sonntag den 05.10.2014 erfolgen.

Schlagworte :
- Dani & Freunde machen Blasmusik

No question about my attendance Peter, Thumbsup however I fear some of the previous heros may not have noticed the date ...... Camping in October could well be a shock to delicate systems. Wales will be cold at that time of the year even the sheep hide
Z1parR
Oh yes i'm up for that , German Z rally coming to us Thumbsup
I'm a bit of a fragile flower so i'm sure it will be cold enough in a tent , ah well cold

Good Evening Peter,

The town is in the middle of the Welsh mountains of Snowdonia but because of its industrial
heritage has up until recently been left alone by the tourists.

The tourists seem to want to see farming countrysides and managed woodlands not our industrial heritage.
However my view is that farming and managed woodlands are the 21st Century industrial wastelands and
our industrial past is archeology worth keeping.

Blaenau Ffestiniog has beautiful scenery and working steam railways and working mines which the public
can visit blending the 200 year old mining tradition with modern practice.

In October there is still a full steam railway timetable in operation and the steam trains go right past the
Market Hall where we are proposing to have the beer fest.

Because the tourists do not come to the town yet because they have not seen the beauty in the past the
people are genuinely friendly and the town is very grateful for you coming.

All the people want to meet you and talk to you and are not interested in selling you anything like at
normal holiday resorts.

so first let me show you the venue.

THE VENUE IS THE BIG BUILDING BY THE RAILWAY LINE

THE WHITE BUILDING IS AVAILABLE TO RENT - I HAVE BOOKED IT ALREADY

The sausages will need to be cooked outside in the car park. This is also arranged already.

The Rugby Club where you can stay is behind the camera view as is our house about 200metres walk.

Yr Hen Grochendy This means "The Old Pottery" in Welsh.
The Rugby Club has offered to let anyone who does not like the camping weather to sleep in the
club house. Facilities are very good. Showers, toilets and breakfast can be provided as well as safe
undercover storage for bikes.

There is plenty of Bed and Breakfast accommodation in Blaenau Ffestiniog which is not as expensive as a hotel.
There is a house between the white building and the rock in the above picture which will sleep 12 people,
self catering.

Bunk house accommodation is becoming quite popular in the UK because of its low cost.
It provides good washing and sleeping accommodation but no meals although there is usually
a kitchen where you can cook simple meals yourself. These cost about £16 per night per person.

There are plenty of things to do in the area and in particular there are some very good motorbike
trails with very good views of the mountains and the coast.

other things to do are as follows.

1) http://www.festrail.co.uk/
is the details of the steam railway in the above photograph the main terminus is less than 100 meters from the market hall

A steam train at the station the 2 trees in the middle background are the same ones in the
first picture so you can see how close it is.

The mountains in the background start about 500 meters from the venue and have good walking trails and you can get at least half way up with a touring motorbike.

2) Behind the big rock in the first photograph is Llechwedd Slate mine which you can visit. The entrance is less than 10 minutes walk from the Market Hall.

3) Snowdonia National Park. There is so much to do its best to give you a link

http://www.visitsnowdonia.info/

the main picture on their web site is 20 minutes by bike through similar scenery.

4) http://www.portmeirion-village.com/en/visit/
this is about 15 minutes away. This is just a few things. More to follow

In Vorbereitung zum Besuch in Wales hat uns Ted einen
Koffer voll INformationsmaterial zum verteilen geschickt.

Die Unterlagen liegen bei der HocketZe aus und können kostenlos
mitgenommen werden.

In preparation of the visit to the event, Ted sent me a suitcase filled with valuable
info material about Wales. It will be presented during the HocketZe and can be taken
away for free.
